Capturing birds in flight is highly rewarding when successful, but a technically challenging area of photography. In this bestselling book Nina Bailey guides you through the settings, creative and technical processes of capturing birds in flight, whether in a captive setting or in the wild.

With digital camera technology advancing rapidly in the last few years the ability to capture these actions shots is no longer restricted to professional series cameras. Nina looks at what features are important for this type of wildlife photography and also considers the impact of lens choice, not only in terms of performance but also from the perspective of manageability when out in the field.

This third edition book (published April 2020) includes detailed explanation on extender (teleconverter) compatibility. It also covers the comprehensive focusing systems found on recent EOS models, such as the EOS 5D Mark IV, EOS 90D, EOS 6D Mark II and new flagship EOS-1D X Mark III cameras.

In addition, there's newly added information on Canon's full frame mirrorless system – the EOS R-series – with advice on how to approach birds in flight when using an electronic viewfinder and the powerful Dual Pixel CMOS focusing system.

A brand new reference section has been added to this guide, providing photographers new to interchangeable lens cameras a good grounding in the basics of photography, to help them tackle this challenging area of photography.

Framing, lighting and composition are also explored in-depth and as always the techniques are illustrated with hundreds of Nina's own images from around the world.

    253 pages long.

Great book, well worth the read and will probably use to remind of different settings, shame photos are not in colour as this would help to view and understand better the various comments made about the photos in the book.

Covers a wide range of Canon camera models and lenses thoroughly providing virtually everything you'll need to know on how to achieve successful images of birds in flight. A great book for those wanting to learn the detailed secrets to success; my own results have already improved dramatically which proves this point.
